"Volunteer today"

One way in which credit unions are unique is the fact that they are managed by volunteers. Whereas banks are managed by employees who look after the banks interest first and foremost, credit unions are managed by volunteers.

Because the volunteers are not paid, they can and do operate the members’ interests first and foremost in all they do.

Almost everyone who is presently a volunteer in a credit union can remember their transition from member to volunteer. It is this transition that is the key to the future success of the credit union movement.

But volunteers don’t fall out of trees! Like other credit unions, WBR Credit Union is constantly on the look out for committed and loyal members willing to give their skills, talents and time to serve their fellow members.

And what do volunteers receive in return? How about:

A. Satisfaction in knowing they have contributed to the on-going success of one of the largest and most successful community based credit unions in Ireland;

B. New Skills and experiences as they learn about credit unions, their work and procedures;

C. New friends and the opportunity to work with a team of volunteers happy to share their knowledge and experience.

Volunteering Opportunities Available at WBR Credit Union 

1. Supervisory Committee - This committee plays a sup[ervisory role in ensuring that the affairs of WBR Credit Union are managed appropriately. To register your interest in joining the Supervisory Committee, just fill in an expression of interest form at Reception.

2. Board Of Directors - At every AGM one third of the eleven director’s seats are filled by election.  Nomination forms are available in the office and must be returned by 24th November 2009

3.  A number of committees help us to serve members fully and these committees rely on volunteers to function.  They include Credit Committe, Credit Control Committee, Education & Promotion Committees. Youth Promotion Committees.  To volunteer on any of these committees, please enquire in the office or e-mail us your interest.
